As a young child, Eddie Ching remembers his father, who is also a trained artist, painting large landscapes in oil.
In grade school Eddie regularly drew on the smooth surface of his desk with pencil. "I can still remember the teacher complimenting the desktop drawings. She did however, regularly have me spray clean it all. I would wipe away the drawings, often pausing a moment to enjoy one last look.
Later on after painting a mural in high school and continuing to draw, Eddie studied art at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He earned his BFA degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting in 1990. While he was a student there he was awarded 'the best portfolio' during an Italian summer art program. At the university he studied under James Hendricks, John Roy, Hanlon Davies, and John Grillo.
After graduating Eddie worked and exhibited in different locations including: Key West, Vienna Austria, Boston MA, Marthas Vineyard MA, Medellin Colombia, and now New York City. Collectors along the way have bought his works including, Dolores and Mel Fisher, creators of the Maritime Heritage Society & Historical Museum in Key West, Florida.
(In the 1990's Eddie used to sign his paintings: "M.E. Ching")
